Converting quadratic equations worksheet standard to vertex
This is for uni chemistry, and I haven't done maths in 3 years. Please help me understand how the 1st equation was re-arranged into the 2nd one :( I'm especially confused with the " 0.87x ² " part, as that is the only number that is different from the first equation. [https://imgur.com/a/1i3m6ZK](https://imgur.com/a/1i3m6ZK) Thanks This is my first post on this sub, so the whole formatting thing of the question or whatever might not be the best. the actual question is "Find the standard form of the equation that has x-intercepts of (-2,0) and (8,0), a stretch of 3, and the vertex is a minimum." There are a few other questions that rely on this, I just need help on this one and then I can do the rest. So it's y=-4.9t^2 + 22.54t + 1.1 Form my understanding you would use the quadratic equation to find the x intercepts then add them android divide by 2 in order to find the axis of symmetry Lastly sub the axis of symmetry to the equation in order to find the y, correct?
Converting quadratic equations worksheet standard to vertex. g(n) = n^2 − 16n + 69 Rewrite the function in vertex form by completing the square. Show your work. Hopefully I used the term right. y=8x^2 + 8x - 6 y = 8(x^2 + x - 3/4) Did (b/2)^2 y = 8(x^2 + x + 1/4) - (3/4 - 1/4)•8 y = 8(x-1/2)^2 - 8 Which means the vertex is h=-1/2 and k=-8 I know that is the answer, but I want to know if I did the steps right for it? If the integer is even, divide it by 2. If it is odd, multiply it by 3 and then add 1. I understand how to convert them, but in my textbook, it's written that -b/2a = h ; ( 4ac -b^2 ) / 4a = k I tried figuring out how this is possible and I searched on different websites, but all I got is that b= -2ah, and that wasn't much help because you can find that by isolating "b". How can we explain the correlation between the formulas for finding "h" and "k" and "a" "b" "c". If it's easier for you to explain it in another language (French or Arabic) please do. Thank You!

One of my assignments is to graph a parabola in real life and my end result for “a” was a decimal. Is this normal? And if so, how am I supposed to convert it to standard form because doesn’t the “a” in standard form need to be an integer? I have no problem converting vertex form to standard form but I'm struggling the other way around. The problem I was given was y=x^2+3x+1 and I got y = (x+ 3/2 )^2 +1.25 , but I think I did it wrong because when I converted it back to standard form to see if I did it right I got x^2+3x+2.25 Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? [Original Problem](http://imgur.com/a/IXGXf) [Book's Answer](http://imgur.com/a/iyVQq) [My Answer and Work](http://imgur.com/a/iB5eh) What did I do wrong ? If you could break it down simply and not skip any steps it would be very much appreciated!
I have the equation y = 2x2 + 10x + 20. To get it into vertex form I 1. Divide the equation by 2 to get x^2 +5x+10 2. Divide 5 by 2 and square it to get 6.25. 3. The equation is noe 2(x^2 +10x+6.25)+10-6.25, which simplifies to 2(x+2.5)^2 +3.75. However, my graphing calculator says the correct vertex form equarion is 2(x+2.5)^2 + 7.5. So what did I do wrong?
Need help since I don't really know the methods to do so.
Need help explaining the similarities and differences between the vertex form **f(x)=a(x-h)\^2+k** and the standard form **y=ax\^2+bx+c** of quadratic equations. Describe similarities and differences of the graphs and equations, etc. Thank you!
As the title says, what is the neccesaty to round off the vertex values to a whole number.

How do we start with f(x)=ax^(2)\+bx+c and end up with f(x)=a(x-h)^(2)\+k with the vertex being (h,k)? All I find when I search it up are solutions using specific numbers. I'm looking for the general proof.

so I have the whole y= a(x-h) +k thing, but my answer comes out really weird so i need to know if im right, it needs to end up being a y= ax^2 +bx + c i have the vertex of 12,7 and the given point is the origin 0,0, i end up getting something like a = 20.5 so, ya please help my test is tommorow and we didnt go over this today even though i asked
